Diversity & Inclusion

Our diversity and inclusion initiatives

At QIAGEN, we are committed to providing an environment where all individuals have the equal opportunity to grow and contribute to our progress; regardless of their age, color, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, and medical conditions related to pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding), sex stereotyping (including but not limited to assumptions about a person’s appearance or behavior, gender role, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation), marital status, medical condition, genetic information, nationality, citizenship status, military/veteran status, physical or mental disabilities, neurotype, race/ancestry, ethnicity, religion, or any other status protected by applicable law.
To actively lead our diversity and inclusion initiatives, we have the Diversity and Inclusion Council which oversees the activities of our Diversity & Inclusion Ambassadors and our  5 Employee Resource Groups – QIAWomen, Thrive@QIAGEN, Pride@QIAGEN, QPACC and Mosaic and our Diversity and Inclusion Ambassadors.

A celebration of QIAGEN's diversity

The Mosaic community celebrates the depth and breadth of racial and ethnic diversity across QIAGEN. We embrace the imagery of mosaic art as a metaphor for the beauty that occurs when we show up as our authentic selves and build community across differences. We believe that the vast array of cultures and traditions of QIAGEN's global employee base is a strength to be harnessed and honored.

Elevating LGBTQ+ voices and allies at QIAGEN

Pride@QIAGEN aims to raise awareness and create an equitable, inclusive and affirming environment for LGBTQ+ individuals to show up as their whole selves at work. We strive to build understanding around sexual orientation, gender identity and personal expression, promote actions and behaviors to foster belonging, and shape policies for inclusion. Our mission is to build a supportive, safe, and engaging community that creates opportunities to connect, celebrates successes and represents the many identities within our community.

Supporting women QIAGENers to connect, advance and thrive.

The mission of QIAWomen is to support, develop and advance women at QIAGEN. Together, we aspire to build a strong community and network that elevates the visibility of women at QIAGEN, and fosters an inclusive environment where women are empowered to succeed personally and professionally.

QIAGEN Parents & Caregivers Community: It takes a village to care for a family. We're here to be part of yours.

QPACC aspires to build an inclusive environment for parents and caregivers to navigate and positively shape QIAGEN’s corporate culture. We strive to build a dynamic and practical community that recognizes the diversity of circumstances and varying needs of parents and caregivers, empathizes with their experiences and supports them every step along the way. Our mission is to create a culture of belonging where everyone can fully balance and meet their work and caring responsibilities.

Creating a workplace community where every QIAGENer can Thrive.

Thrive@QIAGEN is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment and a supportive community, where all QIAGENers are respected, represented and empowered to succeed. Our mission is to foster open and supportive conversations about visible and invisible disabilities, mental health and wellness. We aspire to bring awareness to the benefits of inclusion adjustments, accommodations and best practices, and to educate and equip employees across all levels at QIAGEN with a strong infrastructure for wellbeing and success.

The QIAGEN Diversity Site Ambassador program was started in March 2018 to help drive QIAGEN's Diversity & Inclusion initiatives out to QIAGEN sites and locations worldwide. Change happens "on the ground", between real people at real sites doing real work together, and our Ambassadors are our change agents around the globe. Since 2018, our Ambassadors have hosted many site-specific town halls and diversity forums, participated in numerous local/regional outreach activities, shared best practices between individual sites, built up our online D&I community on Yammer, and helped us listen to and understand QIAGENers' needs, perceptions and issues.

QIAGEN's Diversity & Inclusion Site Ambassadors program has been one of our most effective programs around Diversity & Inclusion. Our Ambassadors are volunteer employees from all functions who serve as agents of change within the organization. They are passionate about diversity and inclusion and are actively driving local focus, discussion, and change at QIAGEN sites across the globe. Ambassador roles & responsibilities include:

  • Advocate for global initiatives within regions
  • Augment global plans with site-specific details and refinements
  • Host site-specific town halls & events
  • Co-host EC Diversity Forum
  • Report local actions & outcomes
  • Share best practices across sites and globally
  • Monitor local data (stats & perceptions)
